The Every Child and Family is Known program brings together NYC Public Schools, the Department of Homeless Services, and other agencies to support students living in shelters. The initiative will expand from 125 to nearly 190 schools during the 2026–27 school year, and to 230 in the following year, according to a recent budget memo.

Students experiencing homelessness face significant barriers: they score lower in English and math proficiency and are more likely to be chronically absent than their housed peers.

Support matters. Every child deserves the support they need to learn, thrive, and succeed.
