DHS Census Daily Report 9/30/2021

A new report, Heading Back to Home(base), from @hsunited_org outlines recommendations to strengthen Homebase, a New York City homelessness prevention program founded in 2004. Drawing on findings from ICPH’s 2024 report, From Local Pilot to National Model: Homebase at 20 Years and Its Impact on Housing Insecure Families in NYC, the new report highlights how the role Homebase has served in helping housing-insecure families has shifted, and identifies areas for improvement.

Effective homelessness prevention starts with understanding what works. Community-based prevention can be a valuable tool—and with the right investments and reforms, it can continue to help more New Yorkers stay housed.
