Back-to-school season is a time of excitement, new beginnings, and fresh opportunities—but for families experiencing homelessness or housing instability, it can bring a new set of challenges.

In a recent blog post, Family Promise—a national organization working to prevent and end homelessness—explores why housing stability matters for students. The post also highlights how its network works with schools and communities to help families overcome barriers and provide children with the stability they need to succeed.

A backpack and school supplies are only part of the equation. When a family doesn’t have stable housing, children may face disrupted transportation, school changes, unreliable internet access, and the stress of not knowing where they’ll sleep. Housing instability can make it much harder for children to attend school consistently, focus in the classroom, and build the relationships they need to thrive. That’s why housing stability and educational success are so deeply connected, and why the work of organizations like Family Promise matters.
